I just bought the Parents magazine Chils safety 3 in 1 teaching potty (No.5059) & it seems to me that the part that would block his "thing" (I dont know what its refered to on this site) is not high enough to keep the pish in the potty. Has anyone had such an experience with this particular potty?

Don't have any advice for you about the potty, but just wanted to tell you that "that thing" is called a deflector.
