Is there anyone that can compare & contrast these two high schools? Both located in Far Rockaway. I've heard good things about both....

Darchei is big, YFR is small. What do you want to know?

Are they similar hashkafically?
Are their crowds similar?
Is one warmer than the other?

My son's rebbeim his first 2 years in yfr were very warm. There is one class per grade but they track them in 2 classes for secular studies. Darchei high school is nowhere near the size of the elementary.
He went with a couple of friends from Far Rockaway and he's happy. I think overall it's a very five towns crowd. Darchei may have that too but they also have the yeshivish Far Rockaway crowd. I think the finished product at darchei is more yeshivish, I wish Yfr were a little more in that direction and that my son would be more self motivated to learn.
Edited for clarity

DH has a number of friends who went to both, and I know people who've sent their sons to both. My impression is that while there is some overlap, Darchei is overall a more yeshivish environment, more suited to boys who are going to spend 2-3 years in beis medrash there and then go to Eretz Yisrael, and likely start out married life in kollel.

YFR will have more boys who may go to EY right after high school or do beis medrash together with college and likely will go to work earlier. But YFR has some amazing Rebbeim and both are great places. The classes probably also vary somewhat by the grade.
