Yes it's late. I didn't think far enough in advance and then I was busy looking around the internet and asking friends and I still have no good ideas.

Kids have midwinter vacation this week but I have work so I want to give them something fun today (Sunday) so they don't feel too sour about the boring next few days.

Ages are 7-10.

Budget is as low as possible. Would love to stay under $10 per person.

Have car and willing to travel for a good time, up to I guess 1 1/2 hours from Brooklyn.

Bowling
Buy canvas and paint for a fun inhouse paint party
If it's not too cold - biking or skating in a scenic park
If you're able to pay a few dollars more you can go ice skating or snow tubing

In-house anything is not going to cut it for a midwinter vacation when they will be spending the next few days either in-house or at mommy's work.
I would love ice skating or snow tubing except I can't find anywhere that it's "a few dollars more." It's at least $50 more and not worth it.

Brooklyn Children's Museum is free on Sundays between 4:00-7:00
Shirley Chisholm Park off the Belt Parkway has great paths for rollerblading or biking if it's not too cold
Battery Park has the skyscrapers museum $2.50 for students. I don't know what it is and if it's kid friendly so do your own research. And there is also a glass sea carousel in Battery Park.

Thanks!
Does anyone know if Brooklyn Children's Museum is fun for ages up to 10?
Skyscraper museum is an architectural thing, not a kid thing.

$13 per person per 15 minutes. That'll get us far. Thanks for trying though.

That's the first place I looked. Seems our school picked literally the most boring week for vacation. The few things that seem possibly interesting are going to be a mob on a weekend.

If the kids own skates, ice skating is free at Bryant Park.

Children's Museum of the Arts is great for those ages.

Bryant park is a mob scene on Sunday.
Wednesday zoo doesn't help, I need to work on weekdays.
Any idea price range at plaster?
Will look into the roller skating too.

I don't suggest Brooklyn children's museum for above age 6, nor on free days.
