Lace top = the top of the cap is lace
Lace front = the front of the cap is lace

Some rabbanim hold that lace tops are assur because they are made to look like real hair.
I haven't heard any opinions on lace fronts.

I have some friends with lace fronts and I wouldn't have known the difference if they hadn't pointed it out, but their sheitels did look really nice.

Lace top is when the entire top- where the wig parts is lace.
Lace front is only the hairline.
Both are very natural looking, but obviously top is more.
Theres also something called a deep lace- where they put the lace till mid cap, so its an in-between, definitely more durability than a lace top and more “natural looking” than a lace front.
Some cheaper companies started making lace tops so the prices are pretty affordable- depending on length color etc- I would say somewhere between 2-2.5k

Re caring for the wigs- they say it shouldnt be washed so often, just resets if necessary.
Lace fronts are def easier to replace if it rips.. where lace tops you need to replace almost the entire cap.

Lace front - meant to create a natural hairline so that it looks like the wig hair is growing out of your head.

Lace top - top of wig is sheer. Some people part their hair then put on their wig and part it so that the 2 parts align and since it's sheer it looks like your own hair. Basically sheer nude clothes Smile
