Any suggestions how to achieve this with small kids? I want to ensure that there's follow through with my commands. I feel like I'm making commands all day though. Shoes and coat! Wash your hands! Clean that up! Flush the toilet! Did u clean that up?
I feel like my voice has become background noise

Have them repeat... it is likely they didn't listen and you will need to repeat it back again so this can become a vicious cycle but it does work after a while (and by "work" I mean you say its 2 or 3 times rather than 5 or 6)
