So.... my dear sister in law called and asked if I want to come to her daughters play? Do I want? No. But don’t really have much of a choice. So I’ll iy”H go and make a 7th graders day. Question is what can I get her? I really don’t want to spend a lot of money. Any ideas?

Some nosh nicely wrapped or a balloon with a note "you were a star"
No point in spending a lot it's the idea and they get so excited over anything..

Why do you need to bring anything?
I hate the whole balloons floating there thing, so I say that if you must bring something, bring flowers -- a small bouquet from the corner store will do.

Thanks all for your ideas! I somehow feel stupid coming empty handed. I feel that my sisters in law will judge me if I don’t bring anything

You could not go and instead send a huge balloon ($10-$20). Sometimes your time is worth the extra money.

A balloon, or a mini stuffed animal, like you can get at the drug store.

I’d rather go and buy something cheaper. Sil said my niece was begging her to call so I guess she really wants me there

Some nosh will do, a gift isn't necessary.

First find out if giving something is allowed by school, if auditorium allows food in.
A fruitshake, a muffin, a danish, chocolate all these are fine. A large congrats cookie.

I go to my neices plays empty handed. I don't get the giving something. The something im giving is my time and my self.
Especially the high school plays that you need to buy a ticket...

Yes. Your neice wants you. Not your gift. Sometimes all you have to do it show up. Applaud. And give her a hug and a compliment at the end. Maybe offer to take her out after?
