I know triplets who are Yidis, Hudis, and Henchy. I don't get how their parents can do that.

This must be cultural because I don't see those names as similar at all.

I sometimes joke that if I ever have twin boys, I'll name them Mupim and Chupim or Ooz and Booz (both pairs are pairs of brothers mentioned in sefer Bereishis, forgot whose kids they were). But I wouldn't ACTUALLY do that, it's just a silly joke. Like everyone said, do not do this. Bad idea.

Yitty/Gitty/Vitty
Minky/Mindy
Fradel/Madel.
Henny/Hendy
Menny/Shenny/Neni
Then there are so many similar names that probably stem from same origin
like Rechel/Rochel/Ra(h)chel
like Chantzy/Chanchy/Chany/Henchy/Hentze/
Anna/Anya/Henny
or Sarah/Serel
Or Fraida/Fradel.
Or shayna/Shaindel
etc

I have a friend Fradel with a daughter Fraida Rivky.
I have a classmate Rechy with a sister Rochel.
My neighbor has a Sara and a Surel (not Serel).
The Satmar Rebbe ztzal said Yitty and Gitty were the same name to my cousin who asked.
On the other hand, according to Munkatch you can have sons Chaim Yitzchok and Yitzchok Yehuda because two names = one name and yes, I know a family like this..

must be confusing. Many names by now are considered a complete different name than other similar ones, but they are mostly just probably derivatives/diminutives of other names

I know a Surel that goes by Surelle, and a Chaila, that goes by Chayalle
I know a family that have two sisters one is Gitty & one is Yitty. I think its confusing for mom to call them while they are growing up

I have twins and am part of a twins group on fb. I noticed that a lot of ppl in the secular world give their twins almost identical sounding names. I'm not into that... My twins have short cute names but they don't sound alike. They are both 5 letters in length. Perhaps you can do that. Give them names that are similar in length and sort of go together but don't sound the same.

Are Yidis and Hudis names on their own? I thought they were both nicknames for Yehudis.

I know a family whose 5 kids’ names all started with A, but a few of the kids chose nicknames that made it less obvious, like Gayil for Avigayil. |
Ditza and chedva had me lol
