Title says it all.

Should a person who tested positive with coronavirus be permitted to board a plane with other passengers?

(The Washington Post reports that the Dept of State overruled the CDC and allowed infected passengers on a flight that contained seats which could be cordoned off for any infected passengers.

They are probably going to spread the infection. I flew a couple of nights ago and am still jet lagged but I sure hope that no one on that ElAl flight was sick.

I think it’s great to have a poll that everyone will agree 100% on.

This is a very different dilemma than it seemed posed originally by your question.

This wasn't a regular flight, it was a repatriated flight from Japan with other passengers who have likely been infected too. While I don't think it was a wise decision even though they were kept isolated from the other passengers, it's almost guaranteed that there were others in the incubation period who will test positive too anyway. Also, the fact that all those who tested negative so far flew together without being isolated one-on-one was a real breeding ground for it to spread further. I'm not sure these flights were a wise idea in general.

ETA: Yes as I expected, many others have come out with it anyway: On Friday, the CDC said there were now 28 U.S. residents brought home from the Diamond Princess cruise ship who have tested positive for the virus.

A lot of people who have the virus don't even know about it until its too late. So lots of people with it could be flying, they just don't know yet. Obviously those known with the virus absolutely cannot fly!

We just need to shut down international travel, completely, until this virus passes.
