Do they need to be washed first or can I just use them straight from the container?

Bugs aside, you should wash everything at least in water. Keep in mind people handled it during picking/packaging, plus if it's not organic it'll have pesticides on it.

Yes you should rinse everything
But I heard they grow these inside the container on a sponge so I don’t think they need checking
