Was wondering about doing taxes:
I've been filing taxes until now through a service that does it for you for free. Basically the same thing as you doing it, but they know what they are doing so it just makes things easier.
Would I gain by going to a professional? Not sure if it's worth paying - will they even be able to help me get a bigger return?
I have a very basic tax return. Me, dh and baby. I work in an office, Dh learns. Nothing much more going on.

Maybe look for a tax pro who does free consultations so you can explain your situation and see if the pro can be beneficial to you.

Turbotax and whatnot is usually sufficient even with multiple rentals and multiple sole proprieterships. For corporate, a tax pro is better but I like EA more than CPA for tax stuff. For a basic one w2 there is no purpose to a tax pro.
