Hi ladies,

I am not so creative and my single sister ran out of ideas for a Purim theme this year...so she is giving out grape juice and hamintashen in a nice box. Any ideas what else to add that is classy? Anyone have a cute poem she can include? Thank you!

My face is red as I present this package
It is red with a feeling of shame.
How can I give something so simple?
How can I give something so lame?

True, it was once the tradition
Just a hamentash and a fruit.
But now, that is no longer sufficient
It must be something creative and cute!

But alas, I had no inspiration
No ideas flashed in my mind
So please accept this pathetic gift
And try to be gracious and kind.

But I still must save face
And preserve some dignity.
So I asked an online person
To write up a poem for me.

For though this box has no theme
And no cutesy foods at this time
At least I have not sinned further
By omitting the traditional rhyme.

Happy Purim!

I think you can just wrap it nicely and write a simple note about having a happy Purim and may we share Simcha’s....

amother Orange - you obviously are creative and good at writing poems but why such a rude poem? Why not help the poster?

Apologies, I didn't mean to be rude.

It honestly surprised me that someone would think that there is anything missing from a classic Shalach Manos like grape juice and hamentashen, in a nice box no less. It sounded almost like satire, hence my response.

Thank you for your comments. My sister as a single feels like she has to do something that stands out a little as she is giving her shaloch manos to shadchans ( hopefully they will remember her and think of shidduch ideas for her).... that's why she wants to add a cute poem. You are quite creative and clearly really good at poems so if you have any other cute ideas to include as a poem that would be very nice and appreciated.

satire alert

Get me out of this "sticky" situation,
Bring me towards salvation,
Out of the "corner" I come,
Waiting to build a new home,
With a mate, of my "color & flavor"
Help me find a zivug! It's a huge favor!

Matchmaker, matchmaker, happy Purim!
I present you with this Shalach Manos heartfelt.
My hope is that it will be a downpayment
Towards more substantial Shadchonus Gelt!

Matchmaker, matchmaker, though this gift is simple
And comes not with an abundance of nosh
I hope it will spark the idea for the perfect match
That fits together like grape juice with hamentash!

Happy Happy Purim!

Just add a pear to the Shalach Manos, and write:

You've been sweeter than a Hamentash,
In all of the dealings I've had with you.
You've been more classy than Grape Juice
In helping me take dates through.

I'd like to wish you a happy Purim
And thank you for your work and care.
May you have much continued success
In helping singles find the perfect Pear!

In helping me take dates through.

In mentchlichkeit you've set the Bar
With your patience and your tact.
It's clear to see your heart of Gold
All will agree that's a fact!

I'd like to wish you a happy Purim
And thank you for your work and care.
May you continue to have success
In helping find the perfect Pear!

Yes there IS a theme, you can be sure!
It's all about the number four.

Not the four sons, or the four kinds
Of the four Purim mitzvos this reminds!

1) As you hear the Megillah, wipe out Haman's name.
Eat up these Hamantashen to do the same!

2) Send Mishloach Manos to share the celebration.
I get Brownie points for a live demonstration!

3) Give Matanos L'Evyonim to the poor.
These Coins will remind you to give some more!

4) Eat a Purim Seudah before the day is through,
Use this Grape Juice to make a l'chaim or two!

If you do these things, you can be sure
Your Purim will be amazing times four!

Those who know me,And it is quite a few
Know I only send meshalos manos, to a select one or 2
I wrap them with care, and I ponder all day
What should I send, and what can I say
To offer hors d' oeuvres they may seem like a treat
But some little ones want to know just what they eat
To fill it with treats may seem quite unfair
When the dentist bills comes and you are so unaware
The food coloring for some, it just has to go~ and MSG hurts my head, so again that’s a “no”.
I ponder I panic, I bake and then stop, a peanut allergy might have someone drop
So maybe no gluten, does that surprise you?
And forget about lactose, someone could sue
I pondered and wondered what else can I do
I haven’t the time to think this thing through
I asked my sister's kids, they looked and they stared
They wondered and worried and just weren’t prepared
To send something right I know I must do
But the stress of it all, I was becoming a shrew
So I sat myself down and I started to sigh
I worried and wondered if I would cry.
To send the best, was my true desire
To do it just right was a wish I aspire
So as you may guess I am still not sure what to send
But I had to do something or the day it would end
I finally decided whatever I manage to send
If you got it from me, then you must be a friend
