Penguin’s recent post about “Pintele Yid” kicked up some nostalgia inside me. So I started thinking, what’s my favorite all-time Jewish (English) song. Although Mameh Rochel and Shema Yisroel are both beautiful, I think my all-time absolute favorite is “Aleph Bais Gimmel Daled Heh” by Destiny. Gives me the chills every time.

What do you guys think? What’s your all-time favorite? (You can only pick one.)

I know it's very juvenile of me, but my favorite song is "Trust in Hashem" by Morah blanka.

No, I cannot pick just one! That's like having a box of chocolates, and telling me I can only have one. Not fair at all. Tongue Out

The Maccabeats cover of "Brave". I think they do a much better job than the original.

When I finally heard the original artist, I was really disappointed.

Moshav Band, "Come Back" gives me the feels every time.

Mattisyahu, "One Day". This video is adorable. Watch until the end for the big surprise!

My parents are baalei teshuva, so I grew up without many frum children’s songs unless they were explicitly taught in school.

I first heard Uncle Moishy and the Marvelous Middos Machine in high school!

I was at a friend’s house for Shabbos in 10th or 11th grade for shalosh seudos leading into the end of Shabbos, and her mother, a preschool Morah, sang this song with my friend’s little siblings:

Shabbos is going away,
The sky’s getting dark, it’s the end of the day,
Shabbos, you really should know,
We’re sorry to see you go.

But she will come back next week, we know
She will come back ‘cuz we love her so,
So let us thank HaShem (thank you!)
Who will bring Shabbos back again

And it literally brought me to tears!! It’s just so sweet and simple

I always loved that one too! I sing it every week when DH goes to Maariv after Shalosh Seudos.

The first time I sang this sing to ds4 he started crying. Since then, he begs us to sing it at the end of shabbos and he always gets all teary eyed. So cute!

My favorite english songs are probably all by Abie Rottenberg.
Among them:
I am an ancient wall of stone...
Little kite
Conversation in the womb
Have patience
The bar mitzva song
I'm a hippopotamus
To name just a few!

I love Abie Rottenberg’s music, from Journeys to Marvelous Middos Machine.
Lately, DC keeps asking for “The Man From Vilna “ but I can hardly Ever Get through it without crying!

I was just thinking how incredible the song “Vinkel” is, I think sung by Rivie Shwebel, but it is Yiddish. The chorus is “Tateh, Tateh” and the emotion is so strong. A big pet peeve of mine is how so many Jewish songs lack passion and emotion today.

Don’t Hide From Me, Forever One.... I like a lot of Avraham Fried’s oldies. I connect to a lot of Moshav Band songs, too, they’re my go-tos these days. Yael Meyer has some beautiful songs like “Warrior Heart”, “Shed Their Fear”.
