What is an appropriate bar mitzvah gift for a nephew? He lives in brooklyn and we live OOT.
We don't want to spend too much but don't want to be cheap either.

We give much much less than $200. For one side we chip in all the aunts about $15 I think and the other side where there are much less boys we give about a $40 gift.
Bh kids are happy with that.

Lots of boys like cash (and you can give whatever you’re comfortable with) or you can give a Sefer (or set) or cufflinks or something. I think it’s really meaningful to participate and the $ amount is not so significant. Mazal Tov!
