Genuinely curious, if someone suspects they have covid-19 based on symptoms, why would they go to the doctor? What can a doctor do for you at this point? Unless someone needs emergency care, in which case, they'd head to the er, what would be the purpose?

To keep all family members in quarantine.
And to notify anyone they came into contact with.
To know they themselves should be quarantined.

Perhaps to confirm? What if it's not Corona but something else? Why self-quarantine if not necessary?

If you think you have corona then call your local health department first do not go right to your doctor.

My pediatrician has sign NOT to come if you were exposed to corono.They cannot test. You should call and they will direct you.
