I don't begrudge people food at all but I am curious as to the logistics of this.

If anyone can get as many lunches as they claim they need from any place giving out lunch what is to stop people from abusing it so that there isn't enough for people who need the food. In other words, if people say they need 10 lunches there might not be enough for others who come after.

I guess if someone really needs they need the food that bad I fagin them.
I don’t believe most stable ppl are behaving like that.

This. If someone is hungry/desperate enough to grab 10 lunches, then let them have it.

As I wrote, I don’t begrudge food for anyone who needs it but just worried that distribution wouldn’t have enough to give one for each child. They might run out if someone took more than what the school prepared for the number they expected.

I think food banks of prepared foods are wonderful and I would not dream of determining who was needier. Let all who feel they need be welcome.

I have read that there is a HUGE probe, with food banks that rely on volunteers to staff. They have the food but no one to bag and deliver it. Or just to organize. Or some programs that cook food and/or deliver it have issues because of lack of the volunteers they relied on.

It is not just children but many seniors relied on meals at senior centers or meals on wheels. And for the seniors, many needed companionship because otherwise they have no one if they live alone.

Today the gelbsteins lunch was a cold packaged potato knish, a blendz 4oz yogurt, an apple, a cup of apple juice and a packaged chocolate danish

My kids ate the danishes - they were very excited about danishes! It probably costs $2 each danish!
I am eating a knish and we still have 3 leftovers.. no one took the apple juice, one kid tried yogurt and said she didn’t like strawberry.. the rest of the yogurts are sitting here, they all said they might eat the apples later -

An idea regarding the juice. My daughter put them in the freezer and they had the ices/slush as a snack in the afternoon.

Are these free lunches for everyone in Lakewood, or do you have to qualify for free lunch by income?

I was just sitting down to post this info. The lunch today looks really good. My kids are excited.

This is really a great service the state/township is doing. And the people who are actually making it happen- and in such a pleasant manner- are just amazing! Hashem should bless them & keep them all well!

Is it smart to keep getting?
I have concerns based on specifics from last week.

It was a good outing and my kids enjoyed it a lot. I think it over all improves our day.
But how do you know the person handing you your food or cooking is okay? (You don’t...)
