There is a well known story
about Reb Meilech (Yartzeit today)
and his brother Reb Zisha
that applies to our current situation
of not being able to Daven in Shul.
They were once imprisoned
and as they saw the sun go down
Reb Zisha began to cry.
There was an unclean basin
in the middle of the cell that
Halachically did not allow them to Daven.
Reb Meliech said to him :
"The same Hashem that said
we should Daven Mincha
also said we shouldn't Daven if it smells.
Now we will serve Hashem by NOT Davening"
and they began to dance around the cell.
The guards were infuriated
and asked why they were so happy -
so they explained.
In frustration
the guards took away the basin
and they were then able to Daven!
Z'chusum Yugain Alenu !
