I bought a 15 dozen box and it was over $40 for the case. They are charging around $2.89 a dozen for the last two weeks. Where do you live that it was $3.69. And I’m not sure why Corona would cause an increase in price for eggs.

A local grocery where I live announced a limit of 4 dozen eggs and the 5th dozen is $19.99 wondering

ETA: $19.99 is the cost of only the 5th dozen. You still have to pay for the other 4...

Surprised

That's outrageous!

Usually the price of eggs goes down around Pesach and Easter; it's a loss leader.

Thank you, COVID19.

I agree. The price usually goes down around this time of year.
I’m just wondering if these are the same prices at regular supermarkets or just at the Jewish places.

The price of eggs, as any other produce, changes daily. There are prices from the central market you can check online, different cities have different prices. It goes according to offer and demand.
Prices of almost all basic went up because people bought all the stock and there was nothing available to sell, soon it will go down as supplies return but people don’t buy as much because they have at home and they realized there is no need to buy more than you need because you can go back to the store.
Limited quantities also help restore supply but make people nervous that there is not enough.
Did you check how much are tomatoes?

I forgot to add that certain chains have contracts with suppliers at a set price year round, so their price stays stable, even if its cheaper or more expensive.
They also must take certain quantities, most Jewish places can’t do that.

I'm only doing curbside pickup. Last week our local Aldis had eggs at the regular price but limit 3. I'm now shopping at a different store that doesn't seem to have a limit and hasn't raised their prices.
OOT.

I wouldn't assume everyone is gouging, their suppliers might be charging more.
