My kids school have it - but not over Pesach.
Logistically it would never work . The schools and catering companies that they contract with don’t have Pesach kitchens.

The meals from the public schools is for everyone even if you dont have kids in public schools or any kids at all. They really should be giving kosher meals as well but I havent seen where you can pick that up. Perhaps you can reach out to the Mayor or other representatives so that they can correct this and have kosher meals especially in the Jewish areas so you dont have to rely on private schools (although I would assume that the private schools would have to give out the free meals to anyone who comes regardless if they have kids in the school or kids at all but not sure).

Who is funding the lunches ?
Even if ifs state funded ifs self understood that their are no school lunched when school is closed during the school year, why would this year be any different ? I cant even imagine the cost and how much of a loss it would be to a scchool to make Pesach food on a $2-3 per kid budget

My kids school gave a big box 2x a week with enough food for 1/2 the week for breakfast and lunch. Other schools gave out every single day. Which was a pain for my beighbors to go pick up every single day.

Also, my kids school gave out produce, eggs and milk before yom tov
The quantity depended on the family size. enough to last all throughout yom tov and beyond.

are these lunches only for low income people. we pay for our kids school lunch. at 4 dollars a meal I wasn't interested in paying for a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich. the school is limited in what they can provide due to the situation.

are public schools offereing hot food or also just simple sandwhiches?

No . All children ages 3-18 are eligible in NY now .

You can find the public school menu online on the DOE website . It’s the same at every pickup location .

It's the same all over. You do not have to go to your child's school. Any school must feed children up to age 18.

Actually, the rules have changed and now anyone can pick up three meals a day even if you have no kids or are single.

Everyone is eligible to get free meals but the private schools do not have to provide free meals legally. And I don't think the public schools give kosher meals.

New York City schools have food available for anyone at this point but in New York City, it is my understanding that lunches are free for all students. From what I have read it's a cold lunch - I.e. fruit, milk and sandwich because delivering a hot lunch would be logistically impossible.

Public school lunches are not kosher - the logistics and cost of doing so would be difficult since public schools don't offer kosher or halal food normally. I have read there is a pilot program in four public or charter schools that have high enrollments of observant Jews or Muslims but know nothing else about that program.

I don't know how various governments fund or subsidize kosher lunch programs in private schools and how they are audited.

Did they stop permanently?
Or they haven’t reinstated yet after Pesach?

Maybe they can’t do it logistically? They don’t have anyone to staff and serve etc ...
