It could be she leaned on something or scratched the surface of her skin without noticing.

no, not scratched. just a white mark down the front center of her body.
like y'know when you get a suntan and you wore a watch so that part of the skin is white? that kind of thing...

Oh, that's probably nothing. Everyone has random spots like that.
I would maybe keep an eye from time to time to make sure nothing is changing, but I wouldn't be concerned. Wink

the only thing I can think is she vomited really badly last night so maybe connected with that?

I'm not sure if they suddenly pop up. I just thought of it as a 'suddenly noticed it, but was there already kind of thing'...

Google says;
There is a natural, and usually unnoticed, fibrous line running down the middle of your stomach where the connective tissue of your abdominal muscles meet, called the linea alba or 'white line'. During pregnancy this line can darken, and is known as the linea nigra - Latin for 'black line'

Could be due to the vomiting, I think. Wait a day and check again.

No, I definitely would've noticed if it was there in the past... I doubt its harmful, I'm just puzzled...

I would wait till tomorrow and if it's still there call her doctor. I dont know what it could be, but it cant hurt to make the phone call.

Lol! No. #1 she was wearing pjs & her clothing stayed clean (but not me or the floor & walls = projectile...)
#2 was noticed after a bath!

I have the same thing, I noticed it when I was a kid and always thought it was weird. I don't know if it suddenly popped up or not but kids bodies are constantly changing. I'm constantly finding new moles/marks/etc on my kids that seem to just appear one day out of nowhere.

Yes it is visible in some people.
If she's not in pain and there's no protrusion (hernia) then it's probably just a skinny kid who strained a little while vomiting. If there's any possibility of hernia though, contact your pediatrician ASAP. Google hernia linea alba or pediatric epigastric hernia.
