After the 93 yr old man in Italy got better in the hospital, he was told to pay for the ventilator for one day, and the man started to cry. The doctor advised him not to cry over the bill.
What the old man said made all the doctors cry.
The old man said, “I don’t cry over the money, I have money. I have money to pay the bill. I cry because I’ve been breathing God’s air for 93 yrs, but I never had to pay anything for it. But for using a ventilator in your hospital for just one day I had to pay €5,000. I realize now how much I owe God. I never thanked God for it.

Oh wow! Thanks for sharing. I had just journaled before reading this thread and in my journaling , I did find myself saying how grateful I am that I could breathe without trying or putting in an effort. Just a few weeks ago it was a struggle to breathe. And after I wrote that , I checked imamother and found this thread. What a strong message. I feel even more inspired to be grateful for the things I always took for granted, like breathing, smelling, tasting , walking with ease etc.

This is a nice story but I'd be surprised if it were true. I live in a country where everyone gets healthcare and I can't imagine being charged for basic healthcare treatment like that. I don't know Italy's system but I would have thought it was somewhat similar....
