I happened to have not liked the name Devorah either until I met and got to know someone with that name. She's a really special person and since I've met her I absolutely love that name. Point is: it's the person who makes the name.

To the another denim:

I just found out I'm expecting # 11, and I BH don't have any girls names in the family. My husband and I were having a good time throwing around names we would choose just because we like them

We both chose Devorah! We'd likely call her devory, though, only because my husband pronounces a cholam as oy, and I don't like Devoyra, but devoyri is nice.

My name is devorah and I have a sister tziporah. It gets really confusing. If you are looking for a name instead of devorah- definitly go with tzipora

Daphna also is similar

How about Tomer Devorah, which means literally "the date palm of Devorah", the tree under which Devorah held court. If Tomer sounds too masculine (it's used for either gender) or too modern Israeli for you, make it Tamar Devorah.

The name of a school in boro park literally
But I never heard of calling a kid that
I've heard of Tzipporah Devorah
Shifra Devorah
Devorah Leah
Devorah Chana

Devora is a Bee no?
Maybe like bina? Lol Confused

"Al taam vereiac.." everyone has different tastes or neg/pos associations to do with names.

G-d gives parents Ruach Hakodesh when deciding on a name.

I just want to clarify . I don't think anything wrong with the name . It's just not my favorite the same way I'm sure everyone has their names that aren't their favorites .

Not to get off topic, but I know more than one Lubavitcher girl named Genesha/Ganessa/Neshe/Nessie. I wanna know the background of that name!

I’m sure it has nothing to do with the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesha, but I could never bring myself to use that name, even if it was a “family name”.
