At first it looked like the capsules were safe. My grandchildren were assigned certain days or hours and only the 9 year old girl was still on Zoom. Then they opened up schools entirely and it doesn't appear to be the best choice because now more people are exposed at the same time.

Yes, we used capsules at work in our labs and manufacturing facilities and it worked fine.

Unfortunately, I don't think the schools were capable of implementing this method (not sure how hard they tried...), so they just gave up. I see a huge gap between how private companies can quickly pivot and implement change vs. how the educational system does things. Some of it is due to the gap in management skills, but a lot of it is due to space constraints. And the fact that they are dealing with kids and not adults.

In the end, they just threw up their hands and said, "We don't know how to do this, so let's pretend it isn't important."

So it looks like the response to this is to quarantine the entire class or in the case of kindergarten, the whole school. This is not like the flu where only the sick stay home and everyone else can attend.
This is what everyone here is afraid of when people are screaming about opening up the schools. What will be the plan? Quarantine everyone in the building, or in the class? Or is the plan to simply let nature take it's course and let the virus spread? And if children are catching it they will probably infect parents, grandparents, siblings, neighbors, etc so we can anticipate lots of missed work and people who are going to need the hospital.

That's what was done, back in March, with students at SAR, WDS and WTA. It appeared to have been pretty effective based on infection rates among people in those communities.

What do people think is going to happen when things start opening up? People who are infected, and those whom they exposed, will be quarantined. Not stay at home order, where you can go out and walk and shop. Quarantine.

Explain please.

Where does the article say that both staff and students had it in the same school? It looks like it was either one or the other.

Ok so please help me understand.
They were tested and found positive
Were they symptomatic?
When were they tested?
What would happen if people Would not be tested?
Are we trying to control something that cannot be controlled?

Interesting, it doesn't look like either occurred!

Last week, a teacher at a school in Rehovot who had been in contact with 52 students and many staff members tested positive for the virus. The school was shut down until May 27. On Thursday, the Health Ministry reported that it had done widespread testing at the institution. So far, eight people have tested positive – three teachers, two students and some of their family members.

This is what we anticipate when things open back up. And those who are infected, and those they came in contact with , quarantine, to keep the curve flattened. Nothing surprising here.

The question is whether the curve will stay flattened, or did things open too early.[b]

I work with 2 women who lost their spouses
One early 50s ( still has children at home)
One early 60s
Both are saying that the world needs to get back to routine.
That the current situation is not sustainable
And we have to work on emunah and bitachon and remember that hkbh brought this and can take it away.

There may have to be a new routine for awhile. The kids seemed fine with the capsule. We have to work our way back at a safe pace.

What are chochmologim?

Sounds like as usual Israel is leading the cutting edge of the curve B"H.
And is reopening with evaluation monitoring and implementing. Smartly.

Much continued health and hatzlocha to all of us and everyone!

chachmologim probably is a word that refers to the fear mongering non science based media that seems as usual to thrive on non fact based sensationalism

I've never heard that term so I'd love clarification from Ora in town.

Thank you.

Exactly proving the NY theory.

Israel lockdown earlier than NY, so a large percentage of the population was not exposed yet. It worked at the time and made them look like they had it all under control. So as soon as they attempt to reopen, they will have a second wave of those unaffected yet.

NY/NJ, on the other hand, was slow on locking down, causing a huge exposure intensified by the Purim celebrations. So almost 100% of the NY/NJ population was exposed resulting in ahuge explosion of cases at once but granting them with the likes of almost herd immunity. So although the secret chederim started over 5 weeks ago, and although almost all stores reopened violating the executive order, in those hotspots there was no spike and no new wave.

Understand?

And BTW, what's a chochmologim? Is it a compliment?

An example of chachmologia might be to use a word that one has mis-guessed the meaning of

Not sure about the percentage. But it seems like a huge explosion will have to happen. No matter how we handle it.

In Israel, being in quarantine = staying isolated from everyone, including other family members, for 14 days.

Stay in a dedicated room, have one dedicated person pass you your meals, do not go out except to go to a (dedicated) bathroom.

It's very difficult.

Any testing they can do to minimize the time someone is in quarantine needlessly should be offered.

But Israeli apartments are so small. How can they do that? And in any case if a classroom setting for just a few hours a day could cause a while classroom to have it... Then a house even more so. Why wouldn't a whole household just be presumed positive. So much of the logic in all this doesn't seem logical.

I agree. With the way the virus travels and its contagious tendency, I cannot see how one can avoid to come in contact with it.

Only time will tell us what was the right way to deal with it.

For now, NY/NJ are frustrated since the curve has long flattened and the political fathers are taking their sweet time in reopeing.
