I had been using a high quality crock pot liner and adding more "buffer" water than recommended for some time and did not have any issues.

Then I switched to a cheaper company that makes thinner and smaller liners and had the issue of it leaking, melting, burning, etc.

I then switched back to the original brand and, voila, same problem. The bag melted and the cholent went straight through and suck to the walls of the crock pot.

Any advice? Please help! Crying

I've given up on liners. soak the pot with soapy water overnight, it isn't too hard to clean. if you use the liners, never set the pot on high. you still have a chance of meltdown on low, though.

I don't like the idea of liners. I just don't think that they can be so healthy. I don't want my food sitting in heated plastic for 12 plus hours.

Thoroughly spray your crockpot with PAM before putting up your chulent. I have never had a problem with chulent sticking to the pot and it takes just a few seconds to wash.

a great tip that I learned from my friend's mother: if you have burnt on food in a pot put some water and baking soda in and boil that. the food should lift right off
