Oh, really? Why? Because big box stores are open WITHOUT enforcing safety guidelines while small local stores are bleeding dry? Because the curve hasn't been flattened, it's been sliding down?

Do you own a shop?

Please explain. In a democratic republic like the USA people organize and speak out about injustices they see. People shouldn’t have to accept socialism or tzdakah.

I hope you’re not receiving your full paycheck and begrudging others that want to have parnassah

Just became they are open doesn't mean customers will feel safe shopping there. Or that they have the money to spend on non essentials. Or they are willing to get busted by police for shopping in a store that is not legally allowed to be open.
I am curious to see what actually happens when they reopen, but I will be surprised if customers immediately flock there and start spending away....

Oh, I bet the stores in frum areas will have lots of customers, between people who believe in reopening, people who are tired of staying inside, and people who don't care about guidelines and rules.

I heard someone got a fine for shopping in a nonessential store. The store wasn't allowed to be open and the costumer got a $1,000 fine.

Could be, beige, but do all these people have that much money to spend? News reports from reopened states indicate that people are going out and congregating in public now but aren't doing that much actual shopping in these little stores.

Each customer doesn't need to spend lots of money. Some people are still working - essential workers, telecommuting, etc.

If ten people are already allowed to congregate, why should stores be excluded?

That said, I wish the small stores in my town would enforce social distancing. I have a long shopping list for yomtov but am nervous to go into crowded stores.

But if the store isn't making a profit they can't pay those essential workers....
I guess we will see. I'm not convinced thumbing your nose at the government when you aren't likely to make that much money out of it anyway is the wisest course of action. Certainly not if you may be faced with heavy fines or legal fees.
Especially when it is likely stores will be allowed to reopen in a few weeks anyway.

If I understand correctly, the stores have lawyers in backup mode so they don't fear the fines.

It looks like some items will be in demand no matter what. Maternity clothes, for example, and engagement rings (or whatever jewelry is given to kallahs). Kids outgrow things and if they are still staying home, they need games and art supplies. While dine in restaurants are majorly at risk if they must pay huge rents but must slash their seating capacity and resemble a hospital rather than being a place to escape, it looks like the return to religious services might trigger the need for clothes and accessories and it also looks (from another thread) that ways are being found to hold weddings and this also triggers spending.

They have a lot of sympathizers. I was even wondering if the most left leaning businesses, such as those operated by the LGBT community, are pushing to re-open and that it's not just a RW anti-government attempt to wrestle the economy out of Democrat control.
