It's motivated by economic concerns.
As long as hospitals are not overwhelmed, they will keep pushing for easing restrictions.

I think we do see a strong indication that the heat is tempering down the coronavirus impact even though there are still clusters of infection appearing. There doesn't seem to have been new serious cases.

It does seem to be all under control. they will prob keep it this way unless things get out of hand in hospitals. most people are fine.

Because life does have to eventually go back to some semblance of normal. And the virus is not and will not be gone any time soon. But the curve has been flattened and there is room in the hospitals if there should need to be.

I'd be ok with numbers staying the same. But it seems so counter-intuitive to raise them.

Isn't that the way it should be?
I live in the US, but I was under the impression that:
a) everyone will eventually catch the virus, and
b) the whole point of lockdown/quarantine was to protect the hospital system.
If the hospital system is protected and can handle more patients, why shouldn't we let people get it now?

seems like the main problem was high schools opening full force with the kids not following the rules like SD and the like...?
seemingly events outdoors with people observing SD and protocols should be okay enough
risk benefit analysis with many factors taken into account -- and not everyone has to attend
