I use white square cotton washcloths. I really like them for everything but mirrors.
I think these are the ones I have. https://www.amazon.com/Utopia-.....r=8-4

Mens XL undershirts can be cut into several shmattas each.
I find that that this material works well for all surfaces.

I get big packs of microfiber cloths at Home Depot. They wash great and are cheap.

Oh! Learn new things every day.
In my house we use stained, outgrown clothing as shmattes.
The one thing I always wondered is how other people separate what is for heavy soil I.e. bathrooms etc. VS, kitchen VS spills or to polish silver.... I am a little grossed out to wash and use the same ones for everything but haven't figured out another system yet. What

I have white for bathrooms and blue cloths for kitchen table and counter.
Whites always get washed on whites cycle. Sometimes throw in the blue ones along in the load and wonder if I killed my whole system Confused

For wiping Windows/furniture, I use cut up cotton clothes and old dishtowels. But for floor washing, I buy the Sano yellow cloths (if you're in Israel). They're the best thing I've used yet.

Old dishtowels and hand towels get demoted to cleaning towels eventually. They work fine.

I have the cotton square ones, usually buy in amazing saving a pack of 5 or so. When husbands undershirt gets worn out I cut to a few pcs and like it for mirrors and glass.
I always do a sanitizing cycle on towels and shmattas
