Some memorable low lights under Mayor Lindsay:
Garbage strike: no garbage picked up for 10 days
Huge Blizzard where the outer borough's were never plowed
Huge clash with teachers union. A SEVEN month teachers strike! A lot of anti-Semitism pitting the mostly jewish teachers against the minority students.

dinkins was bad. I grew up on the UWS. I'm young but my older siblings tell me stories from when they grew up. it wasn't so many years but it was the difference of guiliani

I'm not old enough to remember Dinkins (he was in office when I was born) but he has always been the standard against whom worst mayor is measured. At this point, DE Blasio is either tied with him or close to it!

I think the real question to ask is who has been a competent mayor? Unfortunately, we've had more than our fair share of grossly incompetent mayors. The good ones have been few and far between.
