Its 7 years old. Took it out to iron dd uniform and on the lowest setting it was making the uniform shiny 
Guess its time to replace it?

Always iron inside out.

Never had it with uniform before. Its her 1st year in a uniform and I was ironing it every other week or so...

The iron breaks down the fabric the more you use it, and it eventually turns it shiny, especially suit fabric and uniform skirts

The iron was too hot. Use a lower setting and/or a press cloth between the fabric and the iron.

This makes so much sense ty!! Cuz I used the iron yesterday with no issues but havent taken out her uniforms in 3 months so makes sense that they were starting to wear down at that point of the year...
