So my kid is just about old enough to learn how to cross streets but I have been pushing this off as this child isn't ready even though a few of the kids friends have started crossing and walking about the city. Lately this has become the new rebellious point and this kid has actually followed through and just ran away to a relative's house close-by only crossing those streets we practiced on.. Kid said was too bored to stay home. Kid is in therapy and we're working on the big picture but I need practical suggestions?

Can be so challenging! Is s/he your oldest? Not surprising. Thats the nature of the vast majority of kids. How old of a child are you talking about? If my child "ran away" I would be asking a different question: What prompted the child to feel like s/he had to run away?
And I'd be grateful if s/he "ran away" to a relative's which can be a good way of letting off steam.
On both sides: the parents as well as the child's. Not so uncommon in certain situations.
