Pre-corona, I wanted to open a business upstate this summer.
I tried securing a space and making arrangements but nothing materialized. When corona broke out, I was very happy I didn't sign a lease with so much up in the air.
Now, I'm re-visiting the idea. I am trying to get a sense of what upstate NY will look like.
On the one hand, many people became financially tight due to COVID (for example, if a spouse lost a job for a few months) and might not have the disposible cash to take a bungalow. On the other hand, more people are going stir-crazy than before so anyone that can go away likely will.
I'm wondering if it's worth it. I might even be able to secure a cheaper space.
Any thoughts or suggestions of what upstate will look like this summer? Are the bungalows expected to be full?

Are you saying that based off of anything specific or just a hunch?
Do you think the city will be busier than normal too or emptier?

I'd assume it'll really be full, maybe even more than previous summers. Weekends, if not extended weekends, for sure. I was upstate this weekend. Friday, grocery was up and running. Seen nice amount of people. But not sure financial state.
Hatzlacha in whatever you decide

I agree with Zehava. I think more people than usual will be upstate this summer. Partly because they need to get away after being cooped up for so long. Partly because of the uncertain day camp situation. Partly because of the fact that there are no sleepaway camps, so families want to give their children the country experience with pools, outdoors, grass, etc.
What type of service or product are you selling? If it's food or a basic necessity such as clothes or drugstore items, go for it.

I know that in many colonies there’s literally not an available bungalow to be found....
Every single place will probably be packed .
