I was a total girly girl!! Ballet class since I was 3, memorizing broadway musicals and putting on plays with my sisters and my dozens and dozens of Barbie dolls!! I loved Disney princesses and dressing up in poofy petticoats and sparkles!

I felt sort of weird posting this one because I don’t believe it’s really a dichotomy. It’s not either-or.

Many people who know me from my artsy side (I directed school plays and was a dance teacher for many years, I sob when I watch movies) are thrown when they find out my degree is in Natural Science and Mathematics.

Then the people who know me as a geek - the college algebra tutor, the science nerd, the Dungeons & Dragons player - are shocked when I confess to having played with Barbies til I was nearly 12! (Hey, I had lots of little sisters who adored the adventures I’d create for them!)

But I don’t see these sides of me as contradictory, but rather complementary! I wrote my college capstone paper on the intersections of music and mathematics. Nerd pride!
