Hello everyone,

I have a stutter and though I do not have children yet, I worry about whether my speech will rub off on my children one day. (My stutter is not hereditary, as I know it is for some people. It is the result of childhood trauma.)

Does anyone here stutter and have children? What is your experience?

Thank you

I know several people who stutter and their children don't stutter.
Dont worry now, there's nothing you can do about it anyways. Hashem has it all planned out for you, just keep Davening.

I'm sure I'm older than you.
I had a teacher in elementary who stuttered. That grade always put on a big musical production. She was great.
So I don't think you have to worry about your kids. Hatzlacha!

Stuttering is typically neurological, so it's not transmittable.

Are you worried that you or someone else will traumatize your future children as you were. Are you worried about being a good mother in general? you will be, because you are self aware and you have time now to learn about yourself and heal and gain skills for good parenting.

I don't think you need to worry, but if your child ever does start to exhibit symptoms of stuttering, check out this link, it has some great tips.
