Honestly I don't get the doona hype. I suppose it really depends on lifestyle and usage. I don't have a small house, space isn't an issue. I never take taxis so having a car seat base installed in my own car is a lot more convenient.
About the baby staying asleep you have the same benefit when you get a car seat that's compatible with your stroller base.
