Would you wear a burkini (swimsuit designed for Muslim women)?

I am kind of considering it. It's modest, it's easily available, and it provides the best sun protection you can get from a swimsuit.

There are frum options available such as Aqua Modesta: https://aquamodesta.com/

There are lots of options for modest swimwear out there and not all of them are as expensive as the frum stores. I bought a swim skirt, leggings, and a shirt off Amazon for a fraction of the price.

I like supporting frum businesses when I can. Basic colors has nice swim dresses and they ship for a decent minimum.

I haven't found a burkini that wasn't a mini skirt.

I have an aqua modesta 4 piece. I didn’t have any reason to look beyond frum companies, so I didn’t.

I would have to alter it and remove the hood completely.

Yes, if you happen to be quite wealthy and fit into standard sizes.

I'd happily buy one. Much cheaper than the frum store equivalent.
I've also bought abayas in the past and use them for lounging around the house. I've one 100% cotton one with a zipper which I particularly love. Bought it on AliExpress for peanuts.

I’m a little overweight and self conscious.
I wear a bathing suit with gathers and a long t- shirt over it. I actually cut a below knee night shirt to a few inches above my knees and use as a t-shirt.
I see what you mean that the Burkini provides coverage... but still I wouldn’t look like those models who are wearing them. I would have a problem wearing their head covering.

I bought a tzniut bathing suit years ago. Yes, it was expensive, but I figured I am going to wear it for years to come so I will get my money's worth. And I have. I think I bought it almost 10 years ago and its still in perfect condition. And I also am not a standard size at all and I found one that even covers my knees (fine, Im short Smile )

I haven't gone swimming in a long time. The last time I went, I realized how much my eyes had deteriorated and I'm not dedicated enough to get prescription goggles.
But I'm a frum, yeshivish woman. What would be wrong with a regular off the rack bathing suit? Maybe with a little "skirt", you know, the long ruffle, because I'm sensitive about my thighs?

No. I always feel like those companies quite likely send their donations/profits to causes I do not want to support.

They are now much more widely available from regular companies that are just looking to make a buck like anyone else.
