If you're sending there, or know someone who is, or have any info about it, please share. My dd is interested but I know nothing about it.

I know some chassidish people sending there. It's a mix of chassidish and Bais Yakov type schools.
It's an amazing camp.

Thank you for all the responses. My daughter is simple, she has gone to Sternberg and loved it. Is this camp fancy? Would I have to spend a lot of money on clothes for her to fit in?

What school does your daughter go to?
I think Sternberg is pretty modern according to Camp Palgei Mayim. You don't want it to be a culture shock for her. Many girls are from BYBP, Bais Brocha BP, Ger BP, Vein BP, Bais Rochel Monsey, Bais Shifra Miriam Monsey, these are chassidish schools. It's a mix of chassidish and Bais Yakov type. You have to make sure your daughter will fit in.

Palgai Mayim is in their first year as an overnight camp. Run by Draizy Zeiger, she previously ran Palagai talent day camp in Brooklyn.
They announced that the crowd is primarily from camps Malka, Tubby and Beiseinu.

I don't believe a girl who fits into Camp Sternberg will be happy in such a type of camp.

The director is very yeshivish - the dress/tznius code will be very strict.

I don’t think you’d need to spend a lot to outfit her for this camp - my daughter went with whatever she had at home as camp was only finalized a week or two before they went. My daughter is there with friends, not chasidish or heimishe. They would have otherwise been in Bnos.

My dd and friend nixed this option because they were worried about it being a certain type and clicky. Not sure if they are wrong, but I really would have loved for them to go after being so bore for a few months.

I don't know, and I'm not sure they have space, but I can look into it.

Most camps accept campers who are gluten free but AFAIK, they don't prepare special food for them.
Parents send along various gluten free products

My sister is currently in Palgei. She previously went to camp Bnos and to a Flatbush Bais Yaakov school. She made a bunch of new friends (probably not chassidish) and is having a great time. I know other litvish people who considered sending /sent. Another one of my sisters went to Sternberg previously and it doesn't seem like that type of crowd from the people I know but if she is open minded enough to go with more Yeshivish girls then why not? As long as she doesn't mind the dress code she should have a great time! My sister who is in Palgei reads English books, has an iPad, watches Netflix etc but she also doesn't mind sticking to a dress code and didn't bring any books/tablet to camp. It all depends on your daughter's type!

Their packing list?

SUGGESTED PACKING LIST - there are cubbies in camp, you can bring extra cubbies

Luggage is leaving at the bus stop the same time as the campers.

4 - 5 skirts
2 Pairs Nightware
2 Shabbos Outfits
Knee Socks (Nothing Shorter)
Tights (for Shabbos)
Undergarments
Bathing Suits
1 Bathing Cap (required)
1 Bathrobe / Terry robe for swimming
Towels
Blanket
Pillow
2 sets linen
Laundry bag
Mesh Sock bags
Raincoat, Rain Boots, umbrella
Pair of Shabbos Shoes
Sneakers
Waterproof slippers (like crocs)
Sweatshirt
Soap and shampoo
Negal Vasser cash cup and bowl
Siddur with Tehillim
Toothbrush, toothpaste

Tznius swim cover up for boating on the lake is very nice to have!
Postcard, Stationary, stamps
Pair of sweatpants or leggings (to be worn under a skirt)
Full change of junk clothes (VIP)
Sunscreen
Insect repellant
Box of tissues
canteen pocket change and quarters for laundry

All food must be placed in a plastic bin with a tight lid
3 face masks (they don’t need to wear them, its just good to have)
Nice to have - genius swim cover up for the lake
Hand soap and hand sanitizer
Clorox wipes

Mezuzahs - if you have any to lend the camp - we are in need of loaner mezuzahs (VIP - labeled with camper name, your phone number and address)

Clip on fan (there are no air conditioners in the bunkhouses - you are welcome to bring one to loan the camp and we can place it in the bunkhouse - please tape on a label with your campers name and phone number)

We will allow packages into camp only for necessary vital items. Place Campers Name and upcoming grade on the package. Any unnamed packages will be considered hefker.
