I usually do 1c milk, 1c water, 1/2t salt and 1/2c semolina. Stir while cooking to avoid lumps. Serve while a little softer than you like since it thickens in the bowl.
DD prefers no sweetener. My neighbor adds cottage cheese.

Add 2 tablespoons of butter. Some vanilla sugar and milk no water. Makes it just like the stores.

I’ve never heard of stores selling cooked farina!! Where is this a thing?

(I grew up eating salty farina and oatmeal - just milk, butter and salt. Sweet hot cereal is off-putting to me. I’d rather have an oatmeal cookie than put brown sugar, cinnamon and raisins in a bowl of oatmeal.)

Why is everyone adding butter to their cereal? Just use whole milk and save some calories. It’s very delicious.
If you want any restaurant tastes, in general you will have to add a lot of fat. Be that butter, cream or oil. Keep experimenting to get what you find good.

The butter in the farina is a very good secret ing Smile I actually add coconut oil instead...

Double the milk in the box recipe, no salt, sprinkle tons of brown sugar once it's cooked.

Make sure to take it off the fire the second it starts boiling and not any later or it will harden too much.
