My advice (as you ask) is...
1)stop giving him shots. No more. He can't handle it. did you ever read the inserts of the shots your consenting to give him? Did you ever research vaccines and side effects?
2) here is a homeotoxicologist who specializes in detoxing from vaccines. She is great. http://realchildcenter.com
3) if you do choose to continue giving shots, weather it may be for attending school, or because you want immunity from these diseases (debatable) , I would recommend going real real slow. 1 shot every 6 months. Detox before and after. Test titers to see if necessary, before agreeing to the boosters

What made me think twice before following the shots schedule was my two neices experiences from having their first shot. They scared their mothers daylight out of them for weeks, and one of them saw long lasting lingering effects from the issue.

You must know what your injecting your children with. You must have a doctor who is willing to listen, discuss and hear you out, and work with you.
Good luck, and refuah sheleima!
P.s. I also heard good things about Tania, mentioned above

Thanks everyone . In answer to why we need a popular doctor, my son has been in the hospital almost as much as he has been out, we need a dr. who has say in both hospitals so that she can come visit when he is there and also be involved in treatment options. We also need someone who is comfortable with his complex medical needs. She is more opinionated than I would like but I would have to look carefully before switching.
He is very fragile and gets sick easily- it’s always possible that he caught something else. He was on a g tube for a while because he wasn’t able to eat enough , he is a 3-6 month size, he cannot afford to not eat for 2 weeks and lose more weight and then they will pressure me to put a tube back in 🤨. I messaged my neonatologist team and will see what they say.

Not vaccinating isn’t an option, he got his first shots when he reached 5 lbs in the Nicu before his first surgery and the hospital insisted on it before he could get a blood transfusion.
I would love to space them out more but the doctors don’t seem to like that approach, especially now when they are trying to minimize visits (I live in a state with a current high outbreak)

Could it be he's teething? My DD got her shots two weeks ago. The next two days she had low grade fever and then came the not eating well, not sleeping well, loose diapers... going on for two weeks now. I checked her mouth a few days ago and she has 4 teeth coming in at once!!!!
That it happened right after her shots completely threw me off

Teething is always possible, I don’t see any new tooth coming in. He has never vomitted from teething.

So many shots for such a tiny baby. Sad
Recognize that mmr is 3 shots so your baby got 6 shots in 1 day. That is a lot for a child to deal with. Please only one or two shots at a time from now on. You must stand your ground on this. Your child isn't a healthy weight or size, he cannot deal with so many activations of his immune system at once. Refuah shleima. Persevere until you find a dr that listens to you.

I have done a lot
of research on vaccines due to a child who was typically developing who then developed issues which I strongly suspect came from vaccines given a bunch at a time etc. it sounds like
your child is having a vaccine reaction/injury. People are not being told that certain children are more vulnerable to vaccines especially a child like yours who is a preemie! The dr should have never given a few at once to a child who is more susceptible to the side effects. Drs do not know all. Drs should not be blindly trusted! please do your own research. fever and acting off for this long is a major major flag that there is some kind of reaction happening

Are you in lakewood? Theres a new practice opening up with well known amazing doctors. You might want to apply there.

Are you talking abt Dr. Zyskind? He's a fantastic Dr and extremely nice but the wrong Dr to talk to abt vaccinations.

My son had 4 shots at his 12 month visit (I had wanted to split them up but dr was very opposed, said limiting visits because of Corona). He got them 9 days ago. Since then, he hasn’t been eating any food, limited drinking, randomly vomitting, and on and off fever . Dr told me this is normal and not to bring him on. My intuition is screaming at me to bring him somewhere else for a second opinion although with 9 av tomorrow it’s not so practical and I don’t know any drs who are seeing patients with fevers ). Not sure what to do. Any advice?

I hope he’s feeling better today. We had a similar situation once and turns out dc caught rsv at the doctors office...

And I totally get you on following doctors advice re vaccines. What was very helpful to us was discuss with an infectious disease doctor before each well visit on what to prioritize. This way all were on board.

Also, don’t know which state you’re in, but some major children’s hospitals have a program usually referred to as “complex care clinic”. A real blessing for medically fragile children.

ETA I vaccinated all my kids on time, but referring to a medically fragile kid

may I ask respectfully why you were so desperate to vaccinate such a vulnerable child?

why is everyone assuming that returning to the doctor after a healthy check up is due to catching a virus at the office? can it also "maybe" be that the vaccines lowered the child's immune system so they were more susceptible?

Probably because any of those viruses could easily kill a vulnerable child CVS.
OP believes in vaccinations, and for a weak child they’re important. OP also now realize that spaced vaccinations may be best for this child. OP does not need her decisions criticized. She needs help figuring out the next step.

OP- reach out to the specialist and see if they can do anything for your child. Also ask their opinion on spacing in the future, and get it documented (although there aren’t so many shots at a time again after a year until like 4).

You should make the Dr document in the chart that your child had xyz symptoms after the shots. Otherwise the Dr could easily forget and reactions to shots are usually progressively worse.

I had a kid who always got sick after visiting the drs office. I guess lower immune system and all the germ exposure. I cant understand why they can't make a separate entrance for well visits (it's a suburban office with lots of space). It should be mandatory.

Because his whole team has insisted that the vaccines are even more important for a kid like him for whom even chicken pox or something minor can be fatal. They literally threatened to call child services on us at the hospital when I hesitated to give consent to 2 month vaccines when he was barely 5 lbs.

Thanks. He is part of the Nicu follow up clinic and they have a home health care team for times when he is sick but the doctors decide it’s not worth the risk to bring him in, especially during covid. They came to visit today and took blood and gave him some fluids. We’ll see tomorrow if anything more serious going on.

Hug What a scary place to be. I don't think it's good to be making decisions out of a place of fear. Get informed, and make decisions for your child out of a place of confidence and knowledge.

I know someone who was in a similar position to you who was dealing with a medically fragile child and a medical team who was pushing interventions she wasn't comfortable with. She stood her ground and pleaded her case with information, and they came to respect her input.

I'm not telling you not to vaccinate your child, but you are too vulnerable to doctors' bullying, both in this quote I posted and in the OP. Listen to the doctors, ask them questions so that you understand, feel free to do research, and then know your rights to stand your ground on issues that are important to you.

That’s great! Those programs are really amazing. So glad you have that option, continuity of care is so important.

I’m sure you didn’t mean it like this, but it comes across a bit harsh I shall say...
Of course a mom knows her kid best and should advocate for what she feels is right, but it’s a very fine line and a tough position to be in. What’s done is done and beh all will be ok and this is not necessarily vaccine related.

Op, I reiterate the suggestion I posted above for future vaccine questions. Ask the NICU to refer you to ID and discuss your concerns and what would be the best plan forward.

Thank you! I don’t think anybody realizes how important it is for your medical team to like you and see you being on their side.
Whether it’s letting me sneak a air mattress into your son’s hospital room so I don’t have to sit on a chair all night or begging them to reschedule a surgery to not be on Yom Kippur but not be pushed off for another 2 months, whether it’s going the extra mile to fight the insurance for extras such as home care or synagis vaccine or drop off pharmacy so I don’t need to weekly drive out , etc.
It’s a very fine line between advocating for your child but not pushing enough to make them upset at you.
I wish my decisions were only about what’s right for my son or what I want but it’s all part of a global picture.
(As as side point, I was that mother who snuck my husband into the hospital when they only allowed a mother in. As a nursing mother I had to be there to pump and give milk for his tube but I needed an occasional break or chance to see my order kids) I do sometimes fight the establishment but I had to save it for the big issues.
