Recent magazine article about upcoming community in Tampa mentioned school vouchers or smth like that.

Is that so across the entire state? Are there income limits?

Yes, it's across the state. And yes, it is based on income eligibility.

It's called Step Up for Students

From what I remember, if you qualify for free or reduced school lunches, are on SNAP, etc you may qualify for Step Up. They have an income guideline chart on their website

Keep I mind that tuition in FL is generally way more than NY and the vouchers even at 100% only cover a portion of tuition.
Most tuitions are in the $15,000 range

Is that so in Miami Beach, boca raton, Tampa (is there even a school there yet?)?

Are there discounts depending on income, or it is what it is and if you can’t afford it your kids don’t go to school?

Also, could anyone guide me as to the timing of the move: I imagine you have to first be a resident and then apply for this program, yet probably there is a deadline to apply for new families.

Step up is first come first serve until the money runs out so obviously the sooner the better but no actual deadline

There's also a Chabad run Montessori school in Tampa. Chabad is of course chassidish but most of their students are secular/from a variety of backgrounds which they cater to and everything is taught in English, etc. So maybe that would appeal more to you?

Chanda school doesn’t sound like would be a right fit. We currently live in a yeshivish town, and kids are in regular yeshivas and bys, maybe less yeshivish than some other schools but still pretty much there in terms of level of observance.
