Why am I being offered $900 for a 1400 gram silver Menorah, if "melt" price is now .92 and theyll get $1288?
Who would possibly give me a better deal (Im in Brooklyn)?

You'll have to shop around. There may be shops that will resell your menorah on commission, or that may give you a better price - or not. At least you'll have a better idea of what to expect.
I had some diamond jewelry to sell, and I was offered peanuts for it. Then the jeweler said "I can put this on commission for you at this price, and this will be what you get for it. It's not a popular style though, and I can't hold it for you forever."
All the pieces sold within a month! I got a much better deal than if I accepted cash on the spot for the scrap value.

Because they need to make a profit.
