Need ideas in Boro Park. My kids are all off. No more day camp and school not starting for another week and a half I don't know how to keep them entertained. Last year I took them almost every day to a museum but they are all closed due to covid-19.
I was going to take them to the 18th Ave park today but it's boiling out.
What is everyone doing?going?
How do you keep your kids occupied?
I don't understand why they need so much vacation in the first place but that's a whole other story. Especially since I am paying a fortune for tuition and for day camp

Yesterday was first day of no day camp and we went to a local playground.
Today we baked challah and went swimming.
Tomorrow iy"H we will go school supplies shopping and get together with friends or cousins.
Wednesday hopefully I can take them to an indoor climbing place and in the evening visit my in-laws.
Thursday we clean and cook for Shabbos, and then some kind of outing I didn't decide yet.

My brother is a manager of a school in bp. He said people don't realize the work that goes into changing over the building from school to daycamp and then back again for the new school year.
That's one reason for the break. Since I heard that I try not to complain .
That being said I have mostly boys that basically just have a weekend off till they start again .

Cocoon I'm not sure exactly I think my dgtr went with daycamp last year. I've heard people going there since BP jungle gym closed.

The two places in Wmsbg sprang up since any form of amusement in general public closed down due to Corona, and many kids stayed without camp or daycamp options this summer.
They both have jumping balloons. Kids room also has zipline & swimming pools of 2, 3, & 4 ft.
Full of action also has sandbox, games, jumping shoes

Full of interesting parks/playgrounds you can only get there by Ferry. Yes your kids will enjoy it.
They also have family bikes. Some small farms/gardens. Houses/shops.
It's only open From Spring to Fall.

Ferries go out from Bklyn Bridge Park or Shaefers Dock in Wmsbg. The Shaeffers boat also makes a stop at Bklyn bridge park. Schaefer's waterside is also in same vicinity as Domino Park.

iTs long tiring trip from Lakewood but a really nice day.
We take the Staten Island ferry to the governors island ferry. The ferries take time and you have to wait for them. It could be because of covid have to reserve in advance. We do it as a full day major trip.
No real parks but a ‘construction’ site park. Mountains to climb. Hammocks. Paths to walk on.

We were just there.
Due to covid, reservations must be made for governors island ferry. The construction site park was closed although the wooden log playground was open. The historical forts (which usually have tours available) were also closed. My kids enjoyed the slides immensely; we spent almost an hour there. I suggest taking along fun stuff to play in the field like a ball, frisbee, etc. and a picnic meal.

Is cocoon too juvenile for an 8 year old?
