Can I get a whatsapp account through my computer to join whatsapp groups?
I don't have an iphone, but have certain groups that I would like to join.
Any ideas?

There is a desktop version of WhatsApp, but it has to be linked to and activated by a smartphone.
I had to scan a QR code on my computer screen with my husband’s smartphone, but then he shut off all WhatsApp notifications on his phone and I saw all the groups and posts on my laptop.

I believe you can open a whatsapp business account on a tablet. It can be linked to a phone number on a non smartphone.
Not sure tho.

Blue stacks can be for desktop only, without any phone, but some say it slows down the computer.

Does it have to be a smartphone, or could you create a Google Voice # on the computer and use it to activate the WA account?

We used our home phone number on an old iPhone with no data to set up whatsapp for DC.
