For some reason I've been completely baffled about what to make for supper. Comes noon, and I'm scratching my head opening up cabinets and trying to come up with something basic or different.
I have a hungry crew B"H and want to give them healthy, delicious and nutritious meals.
I'm looking for some easy recipes that are healthy and yummy for kids.
The other night I made chicken, potatoes , string beans and they were not super excited.

If I make noodles one more time, I may turn into a noodle!! I need to make real, substantial meals that will keep people well-fed and full.

Please help, I would really appreciate your ideas!

Thanks guys!!

I like starting with a soup. In the summer people aren't that interested so I only do it once or twice a week but fall and winter call for soup every day. Some options are squash, tomato, tomato cabbage, mushroom, roasted broccoli/cauliflower, etc etc.
I do chicken in a bunch of different ways so it doesn't get boring, like shwarma, grilled chicken, breaded chicken from kosher.com, etc.
My family loves rice as a side, so that works a lot, although we do garlic potatoes or roasted potato and sweet potato pretty often as well.
If your family likes fish that's a healthy option as well.

I'm in a pan-Asian kind of mood.

Leftover chicken, cubed. Chickpea noodles with spicy peanut sauce. Baby bok choy and miso soup.

I may attempt scallion pancakes later, but I'm trying a new recipe. I'm prepared for it to fail. If it comes out tasty, it's a bonus.

My milk spoiled, so I'm also making paneer. I'll add it to a curry tomorrow, along with whatever veggies look like they're about to go off.

I’m baking tilapia with sweet potatoes/ regular potatoes and broccoli
My younger kids won’t eat that so it’s pasta for them! We only had it one other time this week TMI

Last night was chicken soup with chicken and veggies and leftover schnitzel and rice from the night before

What do your kids like??

You need to figure out your milchig and fleishig days. Its so much easier that way.

Sunday Night - leftovers (either leftovers or fresh chicken) or I put up noodles for kids if super hectic and they are not in the mood of chicken
Monday night - usually cutlets - shnitzel, pretzel chicken or meatballs
Tuesday - Milchigs - garlic knots, lasagna, eggplant parmesan, corn on the cob, soups
Wednesday - meat day - either sloppy joe/meat sauce kind of thing, grilled steak salad, whatever,
Thursday - usually hot dogs because thats what my kids love but I dont like to serve to often.
Tonight will be pastrami pizza or deli sandwiches.

OP, You can pm if you'd like.

I have a spreadsheet with different dinner ideas.

Disclaimer: it's not geared towards children. My one and only child is 12 months and happily eats whatever I serve him. But I do think there are some child-friendly options.

I made crockpot chicken with Italian dressing earlier this week. Came out very flavorful. I like to try different baked or crockpot chicken recipes, so I've bookmarked some that looked interesting. I plan my mains in advance.

Here's my menu for the next two weeks (not in order):

hamburgers, fiesta salad and onion rolls, veggie soup and garlic bread, crockpot chicken, baked potatoes with salmon and melted cheese, schnitzel, penne a la vodka, Moroccan tilapia, meatloaf, potato kugel and salad, salmon with broccoli and avocado, mushroom barley meat soup, baked schnitzel with sauteed onions inside, fresh mozzarella sandwiches with pesto and roasted peppers.

I know not all of this is the healthiest, but it is what it is.

Other ideas:
- lasagna, either plain or with meat, spinach, etc.
- grilled chicken in grill pan
- sloppy joes
- pasta with ground beef and meat sauce
- chicken soup
- onion soup
- split pea soup
- tacos
- chicken salad
- deli sandwiches
- shawarma
- salmon with bbq sauce/teriyaki sauce and honey/spice mixes
- baked chicken with duck sauce/bbq sauce/chili sauce
- fried pitas with ground beef
- omelets

Set a basic weekly schedule. The general idea would be a guideline (that works with your family's likes) to help you have an idea in your head of what to make based on the schedule. So if it's Monday and you're panicking because you don't know what to make, you'll think to yourself oh it's Monday, we do chicken on Monday - which chicken should I do today, breaded or sweet sauce?

An idea of what this basic schedule can look like:

Sun: leftovers and salad
Mon: chicken & rice
Tues: ground meat & pasta
Wed: fish & potatoes
Thurs: the easiest that works for you
-- (shabbos chicken & soup, or frozen heat and serve pizza, or homemade mac n cheese)

Working with that, here's a sample of a two week menu you can set up, based on your family's likes of course.

Week 1:
Sun: leftovers and lettuce salad
Mon: honey chicken, mushroom rice, roasted vegetables
Tues: meatballs, spaghetti and sauteed zucchini
Wed: baked salmon, red potatoes and green beans
Thurs: pizza, cut vegetables and dip

Week 2:
Sun: leftovers and chopped salad
Mon: kicken chicken, vegetable rice, steamed broccoli
Tues: burgers, buns, sliced vegetables, and orzo
Wed: breaded tilapia, roasted potatoes and Brussels sprouts
Thurs: hot dogs, frozen French fries and corn

If you give me a jumble of some dishes that your family likes, I can try to help you come up with a general guideline and then maybe a more specific 2 week menu.
