I have a daughter in Primary this year. When I signed the school handbook, saying that I agree my daughter will watch no movies I realized that I have to back up what I said. Not only am I a new parent, but my daughter talks about her entire life at school. So while I don’t have a major issue with Mickey Mouse clubhouse, I got a subscription for Toveedo (Torah Treasures) and told her she’s only allowed to watch that.

We also debated allowing Daniel tiger and the fact that we signed saying that we wouldn’t dettered us. Bh we never allowed it so my kids are happy with the Torah treasures videos and uncle moishy.

I would totally stop, I honestly don’t think my kids need it at all. Helps out when I have to make a phone call or something but I can do without it really.

Anyone know when I am supposed to reach out for applications?

Just to expand a bit about non Jewish videos - as someone who has lived in Lakewood all my life and has worked with children from many different schools, I can tell you that pretty much in every school many of the kids watch secular movies. I don’t think even TCS officially allows it. I have no idea about BYOC. The only thing is in a school like TCS, maybe the girls hide it less. And the staff is very much aware of the student and parent body type. But even in the more yeshivish schools, the students discuss it. So it’s just something to be prepared for, although I don’t think it should affect your decision about where to send. Perhaps in the very yeshivish schools like Bnos Melech and Bais Rivka Rochel it’s more rare, but it doesn’t sound like those are on your radar.

I send to a less learning father boys school - no Yiddish - and my boys never told me about hearing about secular movies. I’d be surprised if it is discussed in school èn masse. Same with my girls in a more yeshivish BY.

The day after isru chag when schools reopen after succos. But if you have any pull let them start making phone calls now it helps if they hear your name before an application reaches their desk.
