Tell me about your experience with this doctor - skill, bedside manner, complications, follow up, etc.

I have Fidelis - not through Medicaid.
I'm in New York -

Dr Ren Fielding is an excellent surgeon, and a wonderful person. She is at NYU. I don't know what insurance she takes.

I used dr fielding 10 yrs ago. And then a revision 8,5 yrs ago when my port cracked during pregnancy. I’ve seen his wife many times but not recently. It’s a very busy impersonal practice. I trust that they take their patience Safety seriously but never felt that they were particularly concerned with my long term success.
I also met dr kurian at this Practice and thought she was very nice

Which procedure are you planning on having? That has a lot to do with choosing a practice. I had lapband and chose Dr. Bessler because I actually worked at Columbia while I was planning my surgery. He is by far one of the most well regarded surgeons and doctors all over come to learn from him. But with lapband post-surgery you are working with his NPs which are the kindest, most support people and they have tons of experience with the frum community. Bariatric surgery and follow up comes with a lot of post-op follow up with dieticians and making sure you are losing weight. You are committing to the surgeon’s practice because most doctors won’t take on a patient they did not operate on so you really aren’t able to switch. Make sure you trust the doctor and the people who work for him before you commit!

I am in the process of doing the sleeve with Dr Mitchell Roslin at Lenox Hill. I havent yet had surgery so cannot give you a personal testimony, but I did get a lot of good feedback on him when I researched it.

Thanks for the replies. I want to do the sleeve. I was hoping I'll hear some names from several people. Instead, there seems to be almost as many doctors as replies..
