We just paid $140 to check two pairs (Rashi and Rabbeinu Tam) at Machon Stam in Crown Heights - $70 each.

so a sofer we used in brooklyn charged 150 a pair (my hub uses two pairs) so was 300. sounds a bit steep to me...but maybe not? was wondering...
