In a different thread someone mentioned that her husband was in shul all day.
Ive never heard of thst before. Yes, sometimes on YK that happens. But RH?
I was wondering how long davening lasts by you, the day time davening.

Here it went from 8 - 12.

7:30-1:30, followed by half an hour of mincha. It's not technically all day, but it definitely feels like it when you've been taking care of kids the whole time. And then, after the meal, it's off to tashlich for everyone. And then they tend to head off to maariv around when bedtime for the little ones starts, leaving you still putting kids to bed when the day flips.

For those davening far past chatzos, is there any discussion about not having seudah that late on YT?

We hold it's not necessary as long as you've had something to drink (water, etc). Anyone who needs to eat before that makes kiddush and eats.

There are also hashkamah minyans that finish a bit earlier. And you can daven minchah later if you want.

Ours usually lasts from 8 to around 12:30 (I think?) but this year it was shortened because of Corona. Too hot to be outdoors for that long. It was around 3 hours.

Ours was super short this year due to the pandemic that is not over yet! And we were all masked and six feet apart at multiple minyanim to keep the numbers low. Anyone else

This is a Chassidish thing. The early shuls finish around 2/3 and the larger ones around 4/5 and even 6 some years. There is a break after leining before shofar called pose.

I think normally its about 4 hours but this year it was majorly shortened due to covid down to 1.5 hours. People davened shachris at home, not too much singing Sad no kiddush. And very limited numbers.

In chabad shuls I think davening normally finishes about 2pm on Rosh Hashana.

My husband davens neitz every day year round. So on RH, he starts before neitz at whatever time is calculated and ended around 10:30 on shabbos and 11:00ish on the second day this year. Shabbos was obviously faster because no shofar.

Once he gets home from shul, I go to a regular shul to daven. Shachris began at 7:45 and on shabbos ended around noon, on the second day we ended around 12:30. On a normal year (no pandemic), there is more singing so shul takes longer. This year, the local shuls did not sing as much as they normally do. I know one local shul that had the longest davening (chassidish shteibel) ended around 2:30 yesterday.

This also. Singing with the mask is very uncomfortable. And they wanted to limit the time exposed to each other, although that was weird because after a 10 second exposure, who are we kidding? But the shuls were super strict this year.

Many chassidish shuls finish late, especially big shuls. DH used to come home at 5, eat the meal, and go right back to mincha. He was drained, I was exhausted, and it was no simchas yom tov. DH started davening at a sheibel that finishes 12:30/1:00 and it's a game changer, best decision ever. We really enjoy our yom tov bh.
