Im looking for a warm coat for my elementary age daughter that is not $85.
Warm because we live in NYC winters, she is waiting outside for buses, walking places etc.
WITH the sales the coats are $85 online.
It doesn't need to be super stylish but somewhat feminine and not "nerdy bright colors".
Any leads? Or is this the price and I gotta suck it up?

I get really good coats for my kids at Burlington. I’ve never looked at their website though, so I don’t know what they have online.

I've done well with Gap coats. Every so often they have good sales, and that's the time to buy.

I got the Gap warmest coats for $50 on sale. They're originally around $150. They often have good sales, keep on the lookout.

This. Black Friday deals are the best (better than after x-mas in my experience)

I went to Marshall's and Burlington last week and found nice coats for decent prices but I don't know about online

Gap no longer makes a down coat.
There is a sale now and its still $85.
Do I wait for it to go lower? Will it?
I know I used to get them for $50-60 but it seems the prices went up.

I am on bedrest so I need to do this online.
How do you know what will be warm enough?

Keep an eye out for Land's End clearance sales. The site will even tell you what the "weather rating" is for the coat. Do you want "city cold", or are you going on an Antarctic expedition?

In this situation I'd probably spend the $85.
I was going to order something for my daughter on Tommy Hilfiger, but then my aunt saw something on sale local for $75 and picked it up for me so it worked out. If one can go out, Marshall's and Burlington or even Gap outlet can be good places to try, but then again the sales only start after the season, so it depends when you need it for.

I buy for following season so I bought this years last year (sorry) but since it doesn’t usually get cold enough for down till early December (where I live) I would absolutely wait to buy. But that’s me.

Last year when I was on the lookout for the Gap warmest coat to go down lower than the already sale price of $80, I opened every single email I received from them. The day came, one day sale-till 12am, additional 40% off. Paid $50. And it's a great coat. 3/4 length, warm, and washes well.
