Does anyone know the ORIGINAL composer of the Abie Rotenberg song "The Place where I belong" (AKA the Torah Song)? I know he did not compose the actual song, just put the words to the existing music. I have searched and cant find. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0_Ovcf-hsg

Are you sure? I think the song is based on the book "the tattooed torah", no? Didnt he do exactly that< add the music to the story?

but the torah song is older than the chasal siddur pesach song most definitely.

I read once in mishpacha magazine that it was rav sholom shvadron's tune for ki hinei kachomer in yk maariv. He once sang it in America and was surprised that everyone knew it

Whoops, from Lev V'nefesh. So that was 1990 which yes came after Journeys 1 (D'veykus came before, which is why I thought it was that order.)

HA! We had the same debate after YT. I said Abie composed it, all my israeli kids were like no way, every israeli knows that tune, not a chance it comes from Journeys.
