Have a white film on them. Maybe they were sprayed with bug spray?
Snell awful.
Any ideas?

Sounds like either paint, possibly intended to mimic the bloom on real fruit, or mildew. Why would anyone spray insecticide on plastic fruit?

Many plastics smell like poison esp when there’s a lot of them crammed into a small space as in dollar stores. There are stores I won’t set foot in because of that toxic smell.

I bought some cheap plastic sandals from five below and they had a terrible odor that made me feel sick so I had to throw them in the garbage.

Yes, some molds smell like poison and some taste like poison and some ARE poison. .
