Tops/sweaters for kid w broken elbow

dd has a fractured elbow & a big cast
Idk what sort of shirt/sweater to put on her because I can't bend her elbow & it doesn't fit into a regular sleeve

Are there any places I can look online? Links?

That's so hard. My DD broke her elbow in June when she was two. Since she was so little and the weather was nice, we used a lot of sleeveless dresses. Hugs.

Is she a teen? Does she have to wear a school uniform? What is the weather like where you live?

My first suggestion would be to get her some cute ponchos or capes. If she has any school shirts that she's about to outgrow anyway, cut off the sleeve on the side with the cast, and cut down the inner seam long enough to allow the cast through. you would do best with something that zips or buttons up, but really as long as the sleeve can stretch over the cast, put that sleeve on before you put over the head. and take it off the casted arm last. been there done that...

Shes 6 & yes needs uniform- button tops or polos with a collar in navy, light blue, or pink. No sleeveless, short sleeve is ok

I could not get any shirt to fit over the cast so today she is in her bathrobe (she is home recovering today) but can't send her to school in that!

All her school shirts are new so I can't cut them.
They're learning outside a lot & it's very cold so she needs thick sweaters (otherwise I would do a vest)

Get polos and sweaters in a size that will fit over her cast. You can try to find cheaper ones but if she will have her cast for a while it’s worth it buy them. Maybe buy her the right size but short sleeves and put it away for the spring and layer with a larger sweater

Right now her polos are stretchy cotton short sleeve from children place- doesn't fit.
Also she screamed in pain when I tried to get it on her, can't move the elbow to put it on. Crying

Short sleeve polos, very likely in the boys section- they're cut bigger. You may need a bigger size, and that's fine. Cast arm in first. Then, a big zip sweatshirt on top, again cast arm first. Ds broke his arm and needed an over elbow cast. We bought one of those sweatshirts that's extra warm, and that was his winter coat.

The first few days will be very painful, but by next week it will already be easier to manipulate the arm/cast. If possible Gove her painkillers about half an hour before helping her to dress, so that they have time to kick in. And be grateful that she isn't old enough to have to get a bra over the cast!

Have you looked into cast covers for the bath/shower, by the way? There are a good range on Amazon, and they make it so much easier.

DD fractured her elbow a couple of years ago. I remember going out and buying some cheap t-shirts etc that were too big for her, so they fitted over the cast. Might be worth buying a couple of shirts in the next size.
You want zipped sweaters or shirts that don't need to go over the head, so you can gently put it over the bad arm without having to lift it up.

Yes fully button up shirts with a wide sleeve in light blue or navy would help but I can't find cheap ones online.
Does anyone have a link?

I finally got a short sleeve dress on her but even putting in the cast arm first it took a lot of twisting poor girl.

Use these short sleeves shirts. Open the seam at the cap sleeve if that side is too narrow. The seam can stay open. About $7.
